Today, we announced two major milestones that put us at the forefront of the wireless industry’s charge toward CBRS commercialization. First, we have submitted our proposal for Initial Commercial Deployment on the CBRS spectrum band to the FCC, detailing how our customers will start offering commercial services this year. Second, we introduced a new training program for Certified Professional Installers (CPI) of Citizens Broadband Radio Service Devices (CBSDs).
ICD PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO THE FCC
We have not only submitted our proposal to the FCC, but we’ve also done so on an astonishingly large scale, which underscores the scope of shared spectrum adoption in the wireless industry and signals true commercialization of the band right out of the gate. We’re looking at:
- Participation from 14 of the industry’s leading wireless operators, cable operators, tower companies, Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and fixed wireless providers, supported by products from 15 members of the Federated Wireless Partner Program
- Nearly 16,000 deployment sites across 47 states and the District of Columbia
- More than 80 rural fixed wireless carriers
- A broad set of use cases, including universities, sports stadiums, entertainment venues, hotels, airports, and shopping malls. This means that the public will soon start to see CBRS deployed at several marquee locations across the US.
This is no small feat. It’s taken us five years to get here, and we’re not stopping now.
NEW TRAINING PROGRAM OFFERS END-TO-END SOLUTION
We also rolled out our CPI Training Program, which removes the final barriers for businesses commercializing services. The FCC rules mandate that all outdoor CBSDs be installed by a Certified Professional Installer (CPI) to ensure that accurate location and serial number information is logged and reported to the SAS for proper operation. Our Program will enable installers to learn directly from CBRS industry pioneers with deep industry standards and SAS knowledge. Installers also benefit from the fact that we’ve partnered with nearly every major operator and CBSD provider, enabling us to provide in-depth insight into installation configuration, commissioning, and SAS provisioning, across the broadest set of devices.

We’ve added this first-of-its-kind CPI Training Program to our robust, end-to-end Spectrum Controller solution, which includes the leading SAS product, and the industry’s only ESC network and Partner Program.
PRESENCE AT MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS AMERICAS DRIVES HOME COMMERCIALIZATION
Our recent announcements come at an opportune time in the industry as 22,000 wireless professionals and 1,000 companies gear up for this week’s Mobile World Congress Americas event in Los Angeles. And you bet we’ll be there. You can find us in the demos located at Partner booths across the show floor. You’ll hear about us at the CBRS Alliance’s “Catch the OnGo Wave” seminar on Wednesday, September 12 from 2 – 6 p.m. And if you need to meet with us, just let us know. We’re onsite and ready to talk about commercialization.
We’ve not only been breaking down the barriers to shared spectrum for years now but also leading the wave. The best part starts now.
